Cepheid is looking for a seasoned Senior Software Engineering Manager to manage and lead a software engineer team to develop molecular diagnostic applications for GeneXpert and Omni instrument. You’ll need to be well versed and current in software development technologies including object-oriented design, web technologies, and mobile application development. This is a critical leadership role in our software organization that requires seasoned people management skills to hire, manage, and develop top engineering talents. The role also requires strong strategic and critical thinking, and strong communication inside and outside of software engineering. The role includes ownership of products with the responsibility to deliver and operate high quality, scalable, and extensible software, including making appropriate design and technology choices.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Lead the teams to design and deliver software components, with the skills needed to understand and lead the design of the software
• Take ownership and drive teams to deliver quality products on time following Agile lean software development process
• Responsible for hiring, growing and motivating engineers on your team, ensuring you recruit and retain top talent
• Have the ability to scale up and inspire multiple teams
• Proactively plan for future organizational growth and drive a technology roadmap

Minimum Requirements:

• A BS in Computer Science, or other STEM majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), and a minimum of 9+ years of software development experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience to perform at this level.
• At least 5+ years of proven managerial experience developing a high-performing team
• Strong interpersonal skills, with proven ability to navigate complex corporate environments and influence stakeholders and partners
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical problems to non-technical audiences

Preferred Requirements (optional): 

• Global experience, influencing or managing remote teams to deliver software releases
• Experience in healthcare is not required, but familiarity with healthcare systems and data and workflows is a plus
